Black IHOP employee Creshaun “Shonna” Jones says she was fired after stopping a pancake allegedly used to kill a roach from reaching a Black customer
A former restaurant worker claims she was unfairly terminated after intervening to stop a coworker from serving contaminated food to a customer.

😳 She says she spoke up after witnessing a Black customer being treated in a way she couldn’t ignore — and now she says she’s the one who lost her job.
Creshaun “Shonna” Jones says while working at an IHOP in Tupelo, Mississippi, she stopped a white coworker from serving a Black customer a pancake that had allegedly been used to kill a baby roach. Shonna says she stepped in before it ever reached the table.
But she says the incident was part of a bigger problem. Shonna alleges Black customers were being treated differently inside the restaurant, and says she raised concerns about what she believed was racist and unacceptable behavior.
Now, Shonna says speaking up cost her her job. And that’s what makes this story hit differently — a Black woman says she tried to protect another Black person from mistreatment, only to face consequences herself. 🖤
