Meet 111-year-old Lessie Benningfield Randle – she survived the destruction of Black Wall Street at just 6 & is now the last living survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre

🖤 She was only 6 years old when one of the most devastating acts of racial violence in American history unfolded around her.

Lessie Benningfield Randle survived the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, when a white mob attacked Tulsa’s prosperous Greenwood District — the Black community famously known as Black Wall Street. Homes and businesses were burned and destroyed, and historians estimate that as many as 300 people may have been killed.

More than a century later, Mother Randle has lived long enough to watch generations learn about the massacre she experienced firsthand — while the fight over accountability and reparations has continued.

At 111 years old, she is now the last known living survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, following the death of fellow survivor Viola Ford Fletcher in 2025.

Think about that for a second: this isn’t ancient history. A woman alive TODAY remembers Black Wall Street burning when she was a little girl.

Her survival is Black history. Her memory is Black history. And while she is still here to tell it, we should know her name. 🖤
